being a loving mother to her five daughters and grandmother to her granddaughter and five grandsons. NuReka  has never allowed what society defines as her role in life to be her lot in life. NuReka truly turned lemons into lemonade. After being forced to relocate over 350 miles from her home with only the clothes on her back and that of her daughters, NuReka broke the mold, got repositioned, and opened her first restaurant in Houston, Texas immediately after losing everything she owned back in New Orleans, LA due to Hurricane Katrina. NuReka takes her life’s lessons to heart and transfers each of them into a profitable business venture.

 

While she has suffered loss, failures, let downs, and the like she quickly gathers herself together and effectuates a plan to move forward with unreserved determination. NuReka is pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the Lone Star College, in Humble, Texas. Any and all of us could stand to take a lesson or two from NuReka. NuReka did not just happen upon a great sense of self-worth and her deeply caring personality; it is something that is intrinsically part of family’s gene pool.

 

At an early age NuReka learned American Sign Language, which allowed her to communicate with and interpret for persons that are deaf mutes; which  is a very endearing compassionate method of communication. NuReka is the oldest of her three siblings, all of whom are small business owners with major impacts on the communities in which they reside and abroad. It doesn’t stop there, NuReka’s parents instilled the best possible work ethics, along with love and tender compassion, which she has come to be known by and embodies.

 

NuReka has successfully operated a commercial and residential cleaning service, which she has trained her daughters to actively participate in operating. NuReka began her cleaning service in her hometown of New Orleans, back in 2002, along with her home healthcare business in 2005. NuReka’s Janitorial expanded to disaster clean up in 2005. Also, in the same year NuReka also started Five Little Helpers’ Nursing and NuReka’s Taste of New Orleans in Houston. NuReka expanded her business prowess with business ventures such as: Queen’s Royal Wedding and Event Planning and NuReka’s Taste of New Orleans Catering Service. 

 

NuReka currently owns & operates Gumbo2Geaux in the Historical Acres Home of Houston, affectionately called "Da 44" which is ironically less than 5 minutes away from her Original Houston eatery back in 2005. One thing is very obvious that NuReka has mastered the art of being a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur. NuReka Chapman stands before you as a solid woman of today, tomorrow, and always!
